Choosing an online school or course is not as easy as it seems. Basic guidelines to choosing the right online program for you include checking the credibility of the degree. Often people are duped into courses that are not accredited and hence get no recognition in the job market. Are there strict time restrictions on completing assignments; or does the online course provide for a flexible learning path? Are you required to visit their physical site at least one time during the course?

Your article and the experience of being at the school is inspiring. Their school web is concise, shows the ingenuity of their collaboration. The skills matrix is essential. Thank you for sharing this.

I am an undergraduate student majoring in English and Education, and I think what this school is doing is a great thing! In my computers in education class we have been experimenting with sites that promote online and technology based learning. One of them being Flickr, which is mentioned above. I definitely think that this school is moving a step in the right direction. Studies have shown that more learning occurs among students when technology and sites like these are used in a classroom. It is a new type of teaching and learning than a lot of us remember from our days in elementary school, but I definitely think that is it an important step that all schools today should be trying to take, and it’s cool to see/read about people that are actually doing it like Concord School!

Not only am I impressed at their willingness to explore opensource solutions for their school, but also the ways they are using technology appear to be so integrated into their instruction. There doesn't seem to be a lot of teaching the technology in isolation.
