She has been very involved in portfolio building. As a K-6 tech admin, I would be interested in hearing her thoughts on what kinds of portfolios K-6 kids should build.

Questions:

1. Should we push quantity (write as much and often as you can) or quality (get this one essay correct and perfect)?

2. Should we assign different data measures to determine success in blog writing (read counts, links, or clustrmaps instead of rubrics)?

Hi Will,

I’m really interested in watching the interview. I will be working with a group of teachers that day who are using Comic Life to increase student engagement in the writing process. I’d love to know if Dr.Yancey has any thoughts about digital story-telling either through Comic Life or any other program.

I’d also like to hear her thoughts on student self-assessment: How effective is student self-assessment when students are judging work that has already been assessed by a teacher? How do we avoid them “parroting-back” teacher comments? Should we only expect them to reflect on work that has not been assessed?
