Lawrence Lessig is an amazing person who truly seeks to establish permanent, wide-scale improvements for flawed parts of society. He helped to legitimize concerns that copyright protections were getting too strong and helped encourage creators to be bold in sharing their content through licenses like Creative Commons. As sad as it is to see him move on from intellectual property, I'm ecstatic to see what happens now that he is aiming his sights at corruption in politics.

If you haven't heard of him, just know that this is someone who gets things right -- not in a political "he supports the ideas I support" way, but in a constitutional "this is what is both fair and beneficial to all of society" way.

This is a striking issue especially for an European like me. I never did understand, why the oldest modern democracy USA build its voting system on private money. Talking about a concept of justice in democracy it never came to my understanding, how such a donation system can bring up subdominant but interesting candidates. I am really critical on developments also in Europe which corrupt the public sponsored voting systems in most of European nations with an increasing number of donations from enterprises and other private stakeholders. I hoep that the US change its system before it influences the European to a - from my point of view - less democratic way of voting.
