I don’t find many people actually tagging their own photos, let alone anyone elses, do you?
Geotagging will be useful when cameras contain GPS and autotag their position in the EXIF in each file. That will make photos easier to locate within your collection.
I have both Aperture and Adobe Lightroom to help me manage a bazillion photos and neither tool has the one feature I need most - the ability to identify and delete duplicate images. Beyond that you could spend months learning to use programs designed to make your life easier.
Surely, there is a better application of this technique than “showing off.” Although, come to think of it, most of Web 2.0 is about “showing off.” (at least thus far)
