Note: I really loved this essay…my whole goal as a parent is having my kids friend me when they get their own social newtwork sites. ;0)

I have this kind of discussion with many students. Since I’m only recently out of college, I still use facebook as a social network tool, and it’s not “sketchy” because I’m not “old” as far as my students are concerned.
Now that my high school students are on facebook as well, I’ve had to set up rules like 1) I will only friend you after you’ve graduated and 2) if you want to friend me, don’t upload things you don’t want me to see. I’ve also had to comb though my own profile and remove items I thought might get me in “hot water.”
But doesn’t the censoring of these cites open up a whole new can-of-worms series of questions?
