I’m using Skype on my MacBook and all of a sudden none of the people in my contact list show up as being online. I’m thinking this may have something to do with some connection configurations that some folks did for a presentation I gave last week, but now I’m not sure how to change everything back. Anyone know what the defaults should look like when I go into my System Preferences and look at the Network information? Or is it a system/sharing issue? I’ve tried to contact Skype to no avial. Any ideas? Anyone? Bueller?

I had problems with Skype this weekend – a little different than yours, but maybe the source of the problem is similar. My contact showed up as online but whether I called them or they called me, I could hear them and they couldn’t hear me. SkypeOut still worked just fine. They had upgraded their version of Skype (on a PC) and I hadn’t on my Mac. I upgraded to 2.0.0.6, but then still had to delete them as one of my contacts and add them back again before the call went through properly. Maybe that was all I needed to do in the first place . . . I’m just happy it’s working again!
I’m using Skype on a PBG4, OS10.4.8, connected to the net via an Airport so the TCP network configuration is very simple – DHCP.
Will, I had exactly the same problem on my Macbook Pro. Ultimately, I had to completely remove Skype and reinstall, and it works fine now.
I’ve had that problem as well. I usually pick a person that I suspect is online and send them a chat message. Once the message goes through, the online users show as online. Don’t know why…and have not tired to troubleshoot…but my workaround works for me!
No problems here. I have the non-Beta install of Skype. Have you downloaded the gold version of the software since it was released a few weeks back?
[...] I’m really getting frustrated with Skype on a variety of levels. My troubles with 2.0 on my MacBook never got resolved, so I went back to 1.5 and got it working for a while, but now the same thing is happening again. No one shows up online in my list of contacts. Nothing I do fixes it. And despite repeated requests for help from Skype, I’ve never gotten a reply. Now I know the folks at Skype have more pressing issues, but this is seriously getting me down, and it is a known issue. I’ve come to rely on Skype to keep in touch with a whole bunch of folks, and now unless I boot up my Tablet PC, I can’t. Really stinks…and what stinks even more is that I have no clue what to do about it. [...]
