Denise, Henry has a research group working on developing curricular materials to answer that question (I used to work in it). Or, if you're specifically looking at historical fiction, this earlier project of one of his other research groups might interest you. He also did a blog post about my stuff on what a foreign language classroom centered around publication might look like, assuming dopa allows it.

Yes - the Web has created a new learning landscape, and we teachers must be learners with our students as well as mentors for heritage knowledge. Thanks for the introduction to Henry Jenkin's book.

So how do you make the jump to getting your students to publish? Is it by setting up a blog or a wiki? Does each student set up their own site? If I (or my students) build something will people magically start commenting on the pieces of historical fiction my students write? Will I need to worry that some students get no comments at all while others (maybe because they are at the top of the "pile") will have more? I am willing to start practicing this stuff but I do not even know where to begin. Who will hold my hand if I want to take this leap?
