How do teachers normally run student blogging? Do they normally control a central website and link to the students? My Ed Tech prof runs our website and it has bloggin features included. What specific blog providers are best for ed blogs?

I'll never forget the time that I remarked to a group of students that writing is more powerful than speaking because when you speak only the people in close proximity hear you. When you write everybody can read what you wrote. The students didn't understand what I meant because in their world only their teacher read what they wrote. Fortunately, blogs have changed this. Blogging is incredibly empowering.
